Deep House mag nicht den besten Ruf haben – eine Menge Produktionen klingen zugegebenermaßen weichgespült und einfallslos. Jenseits der Belanglosigkeiten gibt es aber zum Glück noch eine ganze Reihe an Musikern, die die Fahne für die ruhigere und nachdenklichere Variante von House hochhalten. Einer davon: Kez YM, der deepe Grooves mit Disco-Samples und warmen Chords zusammenbringt. Er steuert die neusten 3 Kurzen bei – drei Tracks, die die musikalische Vielfalt in seinen Sets widerspiegeln. Als DJ könnt Ihr ihn übrigens diesen Samstag bei “House of Love” (neben u. a. Julius Steinhoff und Zola) in der Loftus Hall erleben.
Kai Alce – Movin Thru – Sounds Of The City (2016)
A few weeks ago I went to Amsterdam for my gig and then visited Rush Hour Record Store for the first time since they moved to the new place. This is one of the vinyls I bought there. Kai Alce tracks are alway in my record back. Less sound but more feeling. Groove is tight. Always set my mood in the right position.
Donnie Tempo – N-Haler – Perpetual Rhythms (2017)
This is also the one I bought at RH store. Classic Chicago deep house sound as it is expected. Authentic but very fresh at the same time. Never dissapointed like fresh fluits from proper music farm.
Seawind – Make Up Your Mind – CTI Records (1976)
A few months ago after the gig in Paris, I was digging at Super Fly record shop before catching my plane. I found this Seawind album there. Heavy rotation in my living room but at the same time there are a few tracks that I can mix in my disco set.
Kazuki Yamaguchi alias Kez YM ist in Japan aufgewachsen und lebt seit einer Weile in Berlin. 2008 erschien seine erste Platte auf 4Lux, seitdem folgten Releases auf unter anderem Yore und Faces. Seine Tracks sind genauso von frühem Soul wie der Detroit Beatdown-Szene beeinflusst und erinnern im besten Sinne an so manche Produktionen von Moodymann, Theo Parrish, Mike Huckaby und Co.
